Over a dining table, hang a chandelier or a pendant so that it lights the table without blocking the view across it, and keep it about a foot narrower than the table so nobody knocks it on the way past. Wall sconces on either side of a doorway or a sideboard add light at eye level. In a front hall, hang a chandelier high enough to walk under with room to spare, and center it in the space rather than over the door, so its light reaches the whole hall.
Main series
- Monaco: wall sconces and chandeliers, transitional throughout, mostly in black.
- Cavoli: transitional pendants in antique brass, with 5 to 11 lights.
- Lyndon: pendants, 24 to 28 inches wide with 6 to 8 lights, in nickel or bronze.
Finishes
Urban Classic offers black, brass, nickel and bronze. Match a light's finish to the door handles or the faucet nearby, and it will look as if it has always been there.
