American Lighting

American Lighting centers on under-cabinet lighting, adding recessed lights and wall sconces, mostly in white. Founded in 1989, it makes lighting for residential, commercial and specialty uses. Its under-cabinet lights come on a reel or as fixed-length fixtures, and LED Trulux and LED Complete are both made for the kitchen counter.

Beneath the wall cabinets, a strip of light keeps the cook's shadow off the counter, which a ceiling light behind the cook cannot do. Recessed fixtures light the rest of the room, and wall sconces throw light up and down a wall by a door.

Main series

  • LED Complete: under-cabinet lights in white or bronze.

Toward the front edge of a cabinet, an under-cabinet light shines down onto the counter; toward the back, it washes the backsplash. Run it the full length of the counter, so no stretch is left in shadow. Recessed lights sit flush with the ceiling, which suits a low ceiling or a spot where a hanging fixture would be in the way; space them evenly across the room.

Finishes

A white under-cabinet light all but disappears against pale cabinets, and LED Complete also comes in bronze for darker ones.
